Assisting Taipei American School with AP Research

Five students from Taipei American School conducted mini-research projects for their AP research course, and asked students from our school to help them complete the data collection and questionnaire surveys. The following is a brief description of the research contents:

1. Katie Chu: Observing the ways of garbage collection and food waste recycling at lunch, and comparing them with the ways done in Taipei American School.

2. Ethan Chou: Investigating how being nearsighted can be related to a Taiwanese high school student’s academic literacy.

3. Annemarie Lee: Food packaging preferences among Taiwan snacks.

4. Maddie Wang: Parental support and its effect on teenagers’ level of happiness.

5. Sophie Wong: Capital Punishment: A Look into Public Perception at High Schools in Taipei.

The TAS students conducted the survey by asking the ZZSH students to scan the QR code and answer the bilingual questionnaires online. Eight classes in ZZSH participated, and the time to fill in the answers was 15 minutes. After returning the online questionnaires, the students of our school also discussed the research topic with the researchers, giving great encouragement to the TAS students who worked hard to write their research plan.
