Director of Fairmont International School Provided Professional Development Activities for Teachers in Taiwan

Dr. Rebecca Wood, from Fairmont International Program in California, arranged the teaching practice of Theory of Knowledge (TOK) in her teacher training during her visit to Taiwan. She provided feedback on many topics in the theory of knowledge—basic understanding, culture and value, and perspective.

Rebecca believed that the process of exploring knowledge is like peeling fruit. It helps guide students’ exploration on topics, ideas or texts, and can be applied to many key learning areas, allowing learners to explore further details to gain deeper understanding. For example, Rebecca used two city maps to ask teachers to conduct group discussion on the following topics: "The difference between the two maps?", "How to know whether the map is correct or wrong?", or "Where can I get the evidence?" Her TOK-related application tools provided in the training encouraged the teachers to think critically and explore knowledge continuously.
