International Integration: Building Dreams with Solid Foundation--Outstanding Achievements in University Applications for Taipei Municipal Zhongzheng High School in its 112th Year

Taipei Municipal Zhongzheng High School's Taiwan-UK International Foundation Year (IFY) program has achieved remarkable success in international university applications, with students reaching new heights in their academic performance. Forty percent of students have obtained A* and A grades in three subjects within their academic and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) assessments, equivalent to the highest scores of 7 and 6 in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The students specializing in business and science modules have particularly shined, with Lai Yu-wen, Lin Mei-jun, and Zhang He-ling achieving excellent results, earning A grades in all subjects and EAP assessments. It is estimated that they will have a high chance of being admitted to top universities ranked within the top 30 by QS World University Rankings, such as the University of Manchester or the University of Melbourne, with a strong possibility of receiving scholarships covering half of their tuition fees.

Principal Jiang Hui-zhen of Zhongzheng High School expressed that the increasing number of students applying and being accepted into international universities through the Taiwan-UK International Foundation Year program has far exceeded the expectations of the faculty and staff in terms of their outstanding academic achievements. The students' resilience has allowed them to self-motivate and achieve personal growth in both domestic and international curriculum, enabling them to face a diverse and uncertain future with confidence. The Taiwan-UK International Foundation Year program serves as a bridge for students to directly enter or advance to international universities. The IFY program at Zhongzheng High School offers four specialized tracks: Business, Arts and Design, Engineering, and Science. As long as students pass three subjects, the EAP assessment, and complete relevant coursework, they can directly apply for admission to universities in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. Students aspiring to study abroad no longer need to spend an additional year after graduating from high school in Taiwan to pursue a preparatory course overseas or earn local high school credits in the UK. The IFY program substantially saves Taiwanese students and their parents both time and money.

Representatives Zhang Yu-tong and Zhu Qing-yao from the graduating class of 112th IFY expressed, "The past three years have been a tremendously enriching learning experience, surpassing our initial expectations in terms of depth of knowledge. We have completed numerous coursework assignments and participated in multinational (Australia and Sweden) programs, which have enhanced our English language proficiency and prepared us for future university subjects taught entirely in English (EMI). This international curriculum has elevated our language skills and global perspective, fostering international exchanges and equipping us with true international mobility."

Mr. Li Yi-ming, an English teacher at Zhongzheng High School, stated that the Taiwan-UK International Foundation Year program aims to provide students with diverse career development pathways, allowing them to embark on a new journey in life with the joyful blessings of their devoted teachers. Specifically, students can utilize their IFY results to apply to universities ranked among the top 100 in the QS World University Rankings, including the University of Bristol, the University of Liverpool, the University of Sheffield, Kingston University School of Art (UK), the University of New South Wales, the University of Queensland, the University of Western Australia, and the University of Auckland (New Zealand).

In August of the 112th year, Zhongzheng High School will admit the first cohort of students for the IB Experimental Class through the "Special Admissions Examination and Enrollment" process, seeking talented individuals from all over Taiwan and the world. The admissions brochure (including international students, Hong Kong and Macao students, etc.) has already been released on the school's official website early in the 112th year. Principal Jiang Hui-zhen of Zhongzheng High School stated that the IB Experimental Class is a program designed to cultivate students' international mobility, offering both the Pre-University Course (IBDP) and the Career-Related Programme (IBCP) to assist students who are willing to embrace challenges and pursue their dreams on a global scale. The "International Mobility Experimental Class - Career-Related Programme (IBCP)" is a collaboration with the NCUK IFY International Course Alliance, which has achieved remarkable success this year. We look forward to seeing outstanding achievements from our students each year as they showcase their talents in various fields.
