Online Co-Learning Course on Marine Issues between Taiwan and Australia

In a collaborative online course comprising four sections, students from Mercedes College in Australia have teamed up with their learning partners to tackle seven significant ocean-related issues affecting Taiwan's coastal towns and ecosystems. Each student assumes a role representing either a fundraising company or a government agency, contributing to the development of solutions and fundraising plans for their chosen topics. Additionally, they are actively involved in creating advertisement videos to promote their proposed ideas.

The mission entails students from Taiwan and Australia collaborating on seven key themes: overfishing, the impact of ocean warming on marine ecology, marine waste, sustainable marine tourism, coastal town sewage treatment and water routes, coastal town climate action, and marine protected areas. This cross-border experience serves to expand the students' perspectives, fostering unexpected and innovative solutions. The presentation format not only addresses these critical issues but also makes them more accessible and comprehensible to a wider audience. Engaging slogans are used to captivate attention and underscore the urgency of the marine problems that Taiwan must address.
