JDP Human Geography Review: AP Exam Answering Tips

With the AP exams looming in May, Mr. Jon Matthews dedicated a session to providing answering tips for Grade 11 students taking the Human Geography course. He began by highlighting the question types that students can expect on the test, ranging from multiple-choice questions to free-answer questions. He advised students to thoroughly understand the questions and to focus on the content they are familiar with, in case they are unsure about how to answer a question. For instance, if faced with a question about the three concepts used in Political Geography (Nation, State, and Nation-state), students can use free-response question (FRQ) answering skills such as comparison, definition, description, illustration, identification, and writing down the relevant parts that can be answered.

Mr. Matthews emphasized the importance of organizing answers clearly and concisely while sharing personal insights, as this increases the chances of receiving higher scores. Additionally, he advised students to keep track of the time limit when answering free-response questions, allowing themselves 25 minutes per question.

These answering tips are practical and valuable for students, serving as the key to achieving high scores on the AP exam.
