International Dance (MCI) Joint Diploma Program (JDP)

(1) Curriculum Structure:

The subjects in the framework are marked in orange for Maine Central Institute (MCI) cooperative courses, in green for the Bolshoi Ballet Academy(BBA)cooperative courses, and in white for ZZSH courses.

1. Students must take all of the credits of the ZZSH Dance Class in addition to Ballet and English at MCI High School and/or Ballet and Russian at BBA.

2. Students are required to be assessed by partner schools each semester.

3. During the summer vacation after Grade10, students will have to attend MCI's Bossov Ballet Theatre Ballet Class for 6 weeks.

4. During the summer vacation after Grade 11, students will attend the BBA Ballet Class for 2 weeks or the MCI Bossov Ballet Theatre Ballet Class for 6 weeks.

 

(2) Teachers' Qualifications:

1. Ballet and Visual/Performing Arts courses are taught by qualified and dedicated teachers of the dance class at ZZSH. They are taught in collaboration with local dance professionals or experts.

2. English language courses are taught by our Joint Diploma Program (JDP) teachers.

3. The Russian language course is taught by local professors or teachers of the Russian Language Department in a university. It is taught in collaboration with the BBA.

 

(3) Academic System:

1. Taiwan-U.S. Dance Joint Diploma Program: The two schools recognize each other’s required common course credits, and students will receive a graduation diploma from both schools upon completion of their other requirements at respective schools.

2. International Ballet Program: The two schools collaborate and co-teach, and students can obtain credits and program certificates.

 

(4) Student Counseling:

1. Student Counseling

- Student progress tracking and assessment.

- MCI High School will continuously track and evaluate students' learning progress every two weeks.

2. Counseling for the international diploma tests or testing mechanism

Students will be counseled to take the IELTS or TOEFL English language test in their sophomore year.

3. Student Career Counseling

MCI High School will send professional college counselors to ZZSH to provide counseling and assist students in applying to U.S. or other overseas universities, while BBA will provide assistance with admissions exams and the university/college admissions process.

 

(5) Diplomas and Certificates:

1. Taiwan-U.S. Dance Joint Diploma Program:

- Those who have completed all the high school requirements and graduated successfully will be able to acquire a high school diploma.

- The U.S. diploma includes formative and summative assessments, performances and portfolios. The English language requirements must reach 60%; Ballet are assessed through performances or creative works, and the result must be at least 80%.

- Proof of MCI credits.

2. International Ballet Program: Completion of the four hybrid course modules with at least 2/3 hours of attendance each time.

 

(6) Admission Requirements:

Students who are willing to participate in each of the programs should meet the following requirements:

1. Those whose future plan is to study overseas.

2. Those who are the students of the ZZSH Dance Class.

3. Those who have a recognized English language qualification e.g. IELTS 4.5.

4. Those who are eager to broaden their academic horizons in dance or performing arts streams.

5. Those who are willing to put in their own perseverance, effort, and determination to take EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) courses.
