About IBDP

 

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme is a comprehensive and rigorous two-year academic curriculum that leads to a world recognized qualification for higher education around the world. All IBDP candidates need to take 6 courses (each from the 6 Subject Groups designated by the IBDP), with a combination of 3 courses at standard levels and 3 courses at higher levels. The 6 Subject Groups are (from 1-6): Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, The Sciences, Mathematics, and The Arts. Also, DP candidates must successfully complete the DP core, Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), to be awarded with the diploma at the end of their academic pursuit in the IBDP.

Subject Groups:

1.Studies in language and literature (The first language can be Chinese language and literature or English A.)

2. Language acquisition (second language may be English or French, Spanish, or other foreign languages.)

3. Individuals and societies(business, economics, geography, global politics, history, digital technology and society, philosophy, psychology, social anthropology, religion)

4. Sciences (biology, computer science, chemistry, design, physics, sports science)

5. Mathematics (math applications and interpretation, mathematical methods and analysis)

6. The arts (dance, music, film, drama, visual arts)

 

The above subjects are offered in HL and SL.  Students should choose one subject from Group 1 to Group 5 and one subject from Group 6 or 3 to 5 groups as the sixth subject.

About IBCP

 

The IB Career-related Programme (with NCUK IFY as the CRS provider) is to respond to the needs of young people who would benefit from aspects of the Diploma Programme and who hope to focus their studies on university or career preparation. The IBCP engages students with a rigorous study programme that intrigues them while gaining transferable and lifelong skills. The IBCP Proramme encompasses some elements of the IBDP within its structure. It also includes the IB’s educational philosophy and mission, including Learners’ Profile and ATL. The IBCP has a taught component that comprises of the following: two IBDP Courses at Standard Level or Higher Level; a career-related study course (IFY); the CP Core (a Personal and Professional Skills (PPS) course/ a language development course/Service Learning/Reflective Project). Also, the IBCP provides students with various hands-on learning experiences such as international work experience and various opportunities to meet with professionals in their career-related study area.
